VINCENT AND SUSTAINABILITY

Our workshop in Rupprechtstegen – located directly on the Pegnitz and with its own hydropower plant

“Since sustainability already plays an important role for us in everyday life, it was only natural to also build sustainable basses. We didn’t have to put extra effort in it, it actually happened all by itself.”

Johannes Pöhlmann

TONEWOOD

The wood for our bodies, red alder and basswood, is locally sourced in southern Germany and comes from controlled forestry, as well as the flamed maple that we use for special necks. Our standard necks are made of American hard maple, which is supplied to us by a qualified importer. Italian and Greek olive as well as FSC-certified Mexican katalox, which we use for our fretboards, is supplied to us by controlled dealers.
We don’t use any endangered or rare wood species and none of our woods fall under CITES regulations.

Hardware

All our custom hardware, like the Vincent-bridges, the control plates and the knobs are produced by local partners. For all our top mount components we use stainless steel, to ensure maximum durability. The surfaces are hand polished and do not require any polluting coatings or galvanics.
The tuners we use come from South Korea and from Germany. They are brand products and come from traceable production chains.

Finishes

Our necks come with a natural oil finish, that can be maintained and refreshed easily with the included care kit. The oil is food safe and free of known allergens.
For our bodies we use a water-based paint-system, from primer over color coat to clear coat. We aim for the thinnest possible finish, to minimize material consumption and environmental impact. Therefore over time, you’ll notice that the wood grain shows through slightly, giving the varnish a classy vintage charm, similar to the aging of nitrocellulose varnish.

Production

Our complete production is located in our own workshops. We manufacture by hand and with the help of traditional and modern woodworking machines, as well as with some devices we have developed ourselves.
Our energy consumption is supported by a small hydropower plant and a medium sized solar plant.
